Night Court was a very popular sitcom in the 1980s. The comedy television show first premiered in 1984 and it ran until 1992. Viewers loved watching the hilarious take on the United States Legal system. The actors and actresses from the 1980s show were well known after joining the cast, and many went on to have great careers in the entertainment industry.

Now, several decades later, Night Court is coming back to NBC, but with an all new cast. Lead by Melissa Rauch, the reboot of Night Court functions as a sequel series. Rauch plays Abby Stone, the daughter of a character from the original show. Her father was played by Harry Anderson, but the actor has sadly passed away. 8 Will Richard Moll Return To Night Court?

Richard Moll played one of the original bailiffs on the 1980s Night Court. Moll played the role of Aristotle Nostradamus "Bull" Shannon on the hit sitcom and was a well-beloved character. Since then, Moll has gone on to join the DC universe. He has voiced the character of Harvey Dent and Two Face in several animated batman projects.

In regards to his personal life, Moll was previously married twice. He was formally married to Laura Class and Susan Brown, and he has two children. An upcoming project he is involved in is titled Whispers and Shadows, and he sadly has no intentions of returning to Night Court.

7 Marsha Warfield Came Out

Marsha Warfield is an actress who got her start in the entertainment industry as a writer and performer for the Richard Pryor Show. She played another bailiff in the original Night Court, and fans loved her character of Roz Russell.

Warfield has also appeared in Family Ties, Clueless, and Cheers. Though she never hid her sexuality from her close friends and family, Warfield’s mother asked her to keep it a secret while she was still alive. Warfield finally felt comfortable sharing with the world that she is gay in 2017. She has recently began acting again after taking a long hiatus.

6 Markie Post Joined Netflix’s Santa Clarita Diet

Markie Post was another actress from the original cast of the highly successful Night Court from the 1980s. She played Christine Sullivan in the former show. She is actually most recognizable from her role as Mary’s mother in the film There’s Something About Mary.

After her days on Night Court, she had an 18-episode arc on the popular Chicago P.D. and appeared as a guest role in Netflix’s Santa Clarita Diet. Unfortunately, Post passed away on August 7th, 2021.

5 Is Karen Austin Retired From Acting?

Karen Austin played Lana Wagner on the original NBC sitcom Night Court. Other television appearances include Happy Days and Dallas, but she also was a part of several films. Fans can watch her in Jagged Edge, The Ladies Club, and more.

Austin’s personal life got off to a big of a rocky start when she got married when she was only 19 years old. They were not together long and divorced several years later. Though not official, Austin has not worked in the entertainment industry since 2015 and seems to have retired from acting.

4 Charlie Robinson Loved Guest Starring

Charlie Robinson was among the original cast of Night Court in the 1980s. He played Macintosh “Mac” Robinson on the NBC sitcom. After the show came to an end in the early 1990s, Robinson continued to work steadily in the industry.

Robinson received many roles, though they were almost exclusively guest roles. He had guest appearances in numerous television shows, included but not limited to How I Met Your Mother, Grey’s Anatomy, Hart of Dixie, and NCIS. Sadly, Robinson passed away on July 11th, 2021.

3 Paula Kelly Was A Broadway Star

Though fans of Night Court may solely remember Paula Kelly as Liz Williams during the show’s first season, and she did receive an Emmy nomination for the role, Kelly was primarily a Broadway star. She made her Broadway debut in 1964 in the musical Something More!

Other Broadway plays and musicals of Kelly’s include The Dozens, Ovid’s Metamorphoses, and Sophisticated Ladies. She retired from the entertainment industry in 2008. In February 2020, Kelly passed away.

2 John Larroquette In Night Court Reboot

Decades after the original show came to an end, NBC is about to start airing a sequel series of the same name. Night Court stars Melissa Rauch as Abby Stone, and though the show is mostly comprised of new characters, one actor is very familiar to fans of the original show.

John Larroquette has returned to reprise his role of Dan Fielding in Night Court. He is the only member of the original cast to be a part of the reboot. This is due to how many of the original cast members that have sadly passed away.

1 Harry Anderson Passed Away

Harry Anderson was the lead of the original NBC Night Shift. He played Judge Harry T. Stone and led the sitcom for its entirety. Anderson is best known for his work on Night Shift, but he also had a role in Cheers and was the lead in the television show Dave’s World.

Sadly, Anderson passed away in 2018. He died in his sleep of a stroke caused by influenza and heart disease in his home in North Carolina. His character in Night Shift lives on through Melissa Rauch, who plays his daughter Abby Stone in the reboot.
