Zendaya is having an amazing 2022 so far. The 25-year-old millionaire just received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her role as Rue Bennett in Euphoria. The actress also has a bunch of projects lined up until next year. There's the second Dune movie and Be My Baby, a biopic where she plays The Ronette's late lead singer, Ronnie Spector.

Of course, fans can't also wait for Euphoria Season 3. Though HBO hasn't announced a release date, Eric Dane — who plays Cal Jacob — told Vanity Fair that filming begins in November 2022. Recently, Zendaya also shared their plans for the upcoming season, as well as her directorial debut.

Zendaya Makes History With 2022 Emmy Nomination

This isn't the first time Zendaya was nominated for Emmy's Outstanding Lead Actress category. In fact, she won the award back in 2020 — making her the youngest ever two-time Emmy nominee for that category, as well as the youngest female producer nominee. She also received two nominations for the Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics category.

One for the HBO hit's track, Elliot Song composed by the series' musical director, Labrinth, and songwriter Muzhda Zemar-McKenzie; another for I'm Tired with Labrinth and show creator Sam Levinson.

In a lengthy Instagram post, the Malcolm & Marie star thanked her co-workers for leading her to another wave of Emmy nominations. "Making this show with this cast and crew of the most incredibly talented people that I get the privilege of learning from everyday has been a highlight of my life," she wrote. "I'm so proud to work beside you and CONGRATULATIONS! I don't have the words to express the love and gratitude I feel right now, all I can do is say thank you with all my heart! Thanks to everyone who connected with our show, it is an honor to share it with you."

She continued: "Thank you @samlev00 [Levinson] for everything you do, this show is what it is because of your heart, and thank you to @labrinth @marcellrev [cinematographer] @hbo @a24 for being the best creative collaborators. Lastly thank you to the @televisionacademy for this incredible acknowledgment. We out here Emmy nominated again y'all!!!"

Will Zendaya Direct An Episode In 'Euphoria' Season 3?

During a recent Q&A session for Vogue Italia, Zendaya revealed that she was supposed to start directing an episode of Euphoria back in season 2. "It’s funny. I was actually supposed to direct episode 6, but then I had to act in it," she shared. "I didn't have enough time, so unfortunately, I wasn't able to this time around. I wanted to have enough time to do it the right way." She added that she might get to it "next season, probably."

In season 2, the actress had to go through several intense scenes including an emotional episode where her character is set up for intervention by her friends and family.

"I think since season one, we knew that Sam had a vision of having an episode like that, where it would just be all on the line, and we would just be going at it, trying to just tell her that she needs help, but it was challenging to film," she told EW at the time.

"It's always been a really intense episode [...] The general idea was always the same, which was this idea of, we cut right into an intervention and it's Rue just ripping her life apart and setting her life on fire and kind of tearing everything to the ground to basically come to hopefully what feels like rock bottom for her." After that episode, fans already knew that Zendaya was bound to get another Emmy nomination.

Why Zendaya Wants A Time Jump In 'Euphoria' Season 3

Speaking to Hollywood Reporter about her hopes for season 3 of Euphoria, Zendaya said that she'd love to see the characters as high school graduates. "I think it’ll be exciting to explore the characters out of high school. I want to see what Rue looks like in her sobriety journey, how chaotic that might look," she said in August 2022.

"But also with all the characters, in the sense where they're trying to figure out what to do with their lives when high school is over and what kind of people they want to be. What was special about this season was that we got to dive into [the other characters] in a much deeper sense. I think we can do that again with the third season. There's so much talent, you want to make sure everybody has the chance to have that."
