Taraji P. Henson has been named the host of the 2024 BET Awards. The actress is familiar with the role, as this year will make it her third time in the spotlight after hosting in 2021 and 2022. This makes Henson and comedic actress Mo’Nique the only talent to hold the job three times.

“I am thrilled to be returning as the host of the ‘BET Awards’ for the third time,” detailed the 53-year-old in a statement. “I am also looking forward to celebrating my peers and the impact of our culture on entertainment.”

This year’s top nominees are Drake and Nicki Minaj, with seven and six nominations, respectively. J. Cole, Sexyy Red, SZA, and Victoria Monét all tie with five nominations. Additional top nominated talent includes 21 Savage, Beyoncé, Doja Cat, Megan Thee Stallion, and Tyla. Usher, who also ranks among the top, will be honored with this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award.

GloRilla, Sexyy Red, Muni Long, Victoria Monét, and more are set to perform during the annual event.

“Taraji is a phenom, known for her vibrant personality and charisma, and we are excited to welcome her back to host Culture’s Biggest Night, ‘BET Awards,’ the ultimate celebration of Black creativity,” explained Connie Orlando, EVP Specials, Music Programming & Music Strategy at BET.

“We are equally as thrilled to have so many incredibly talented performers join us, standing on culture’s biggest stage to deliver an unforgettable night.”

The 2024 BET Awards are set to broadcast live on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at 8:00 pm ET/PT. According to a press statement, the program has been the no. 1 cable award show among all adults 18-49 for the last three consecutive years, and is the no. 1 cable award show among Black adults 18-49 for the 22nd consecutive year.
