Denzel Washington took home a great win last night (Jan. 10) at the Golden Globes, when he was awarded with the Cecil B. DeMille award by his Philadelphia co-star, Tom Hanks.

Hanks honored the actor saying he possesses a “mysterious power not just to hold our attention, but demand it.” In addition to this, Hanks also listed a number of A-list actors who fall in the same category as Washington, like: Marlon Brando and Robert De Niro.

“The club is exclusive. But it includes the actor who is being given the Cecil B. DeMille Award tonight,” said Hanks, according to The Grio. “The list is finite.”

During his short but charming acceptance speech, Washington brought his family on stage; while he thanked his mother for persuading his father to buy a light bulb more powerful than 25 watts. “God bless you all,” he told the masses.

Take a look at his speech below. Congrats, Denzel! Well deserved.
