Booker T says Vic Joseph has been a quarterback for him on NXT commentary.
WWE Hall of Famer Booker T joined the NXT commentary team in October 2022, and he has been paired up with Vic Joseph. The legend’s voice has become a distinct element of NXT programming.
Speaking on The Kurt Angle Show, Booker T was asked about his transition to commentary.
“It was hard, actually. I’m not a commentator,” Booker T said. “I was just acting a fool in front of the monitor. But when you’re doing it for two hours straight or three hours straight, it can get pretty serious because you can’t step on yourself. You gotta have everything in order.
“So for me, it’s been a process. I’m finally really beginning to be comfortable now in NXT. I got Vic Joseph I’m working with, and he’s a huge help. I really don’t think I would be as far as I am without Vic Joseph. He’s like a quarterback when I’m out there. He’s setting me up perfectly.”
Booker T went on to describe how he studies and writes to make sure he presents what he wants to say properly. He also emphasized that he likes making people have fun while he’s on commentary.
“I do a lot of studying,” Booker T said. “I write more now than I’ve ever written in my life. I got this…little tablet, and all I’m doing is writing, and I’ll write, just say for instance, whatever I want to say, just to make sure I present it properly, make sure I accent everything.
“Even when you’re doing commentary, it’s a show. I like making people have fun. I might throw a few shucky ducky quack-quacks in there just to get people going. But for me, it’s been a process, but I love it. I love where I’m at right now.”
